Why I built this website
My name is Felix Weipprecht. I'm an AI Solution Designer and Consultant with over 20 years of experience in retail and digital transformation. I help companies implement Artificial Intelligence strategically — from needs analysis to implementation. As the publisher of Digital Zentral, a speaker, and podcast host, I work with the possibilities and limitations of this technology every day.
What drove me to build this
I have two children of my own. And like probably every child, they regularly ask me what I actually do for a living. Explaining Artificial Intelligence is not easy — especially not to kids. But that's exactly what got me thinking: If I can't explain it to my own children in a way they understand, how are other parents supposed to do it?
This website was born from that exact question. I want to make it easier for parents — and most importantly, give children the opportunity to become familiar with this technology. Responsibly and in an age-appropriate way.
Not the future. Not fiction. The present.
Artificial Intelligence is not some distant future technology. It's here now. It's in the search engines our children use. In the voice assistants they talk to. In the recommendations that suggest videos to them. Our children were never asked whether they want this technology in their world. It's simply there.
And that's exactly why we owe it to them to give them a chance to understand what's happening. Artificial Intelligence offers enormous opportunities — but also risks. Only those who develop an understanding of it can use it responsibly. Many children don't even realize they're using AI every day.
Schools are falling behind
While classrooms are still filling in worksheets and firing up overhead projectors, Artificial Intelligence is already transforming entire industries. The topics being taught matter — no question. But we have one of the most exciting and relevant subjects of our time right in front of us, and it simply doesn't appear in most curricula. This is not the future or fiction. This is the present. And our children deserve to be prepared for it — not in ten years, but now.
The idea behind AI for Children
This website is my contribution. Age-appropriate content, playful learning, and a mascot named Kilumi who guides children on their journey of discovery. Children should see the opportunities of Artificial Intelligence — and at the same time understand what they're doing when they use this technology. Because knowledge is the best protection.
